Ms. Dutton currently teaches EDL 574: Critical Legal Issues in Education in the Educational Leadership Program. She is also the Associate Director of the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA), a statewide organization representing Illinois public school superintendents.
Degrees:
Juris Doctorate in Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge Louisiana conferred December, 1989.
Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Bachelor of Science Degree in English, Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois, conferred May, 1985
Professional Affiliations:
Ms. Dutton is a member in good standing of the Illinois Bar Association and the Louisiana Bar Association. In addition, she has been admitted to practice law before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois.
Ms. Dutton is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association. She serves on both the Education Law Section Council and the Judicial Evaluations Outside of Cook County Standing Committee.
Ms. Dutton is also active in associations which support public schools, such as the American Association of School Administrators, the Horace Mann League, and the Educational League of Illinois.
School Leadership Experience:
Ms. Dutton has represented the interests of public school superintendents as the IASA Associate Director for the past twelve years. Immediately prior to her employment at IASA, she was employed by the well known school law firm of Robbins, Schwartz, Nicholas, Lifton and Taylor which is a Chicago based law firm with satellite offices through out Illinois to serve its many school and other clients.
Ms. Dutton is a frequent lecturer at administrative meetings throughout the state and at national conferences sponsored by the American Association of School Administrators.
Research Interests:
Ms. Dutton focuses primarily on issues related to the employment of school superintendents in Illinois. She has an in-depth knowledge of the contract law, rules and regulations governing the Illinois Downstate Teachers’ Retirement System, and tax law. Ms. Dutton is also active in the governmental affairs arm of the Illinois Statewide School Management Alliance and consequently is well versed in current legislation impacting Illinois Public Schools.

Experience:
Sandy has taught math at Centralia High School in Centralia, IL for 20 years and is currently the math department chair. She also teaches in the TEP program for UIS – Secondary Math Methods.
Sandy has been a local coordinator for the Illinois Comprehensive Support System for NBPTS for 3 years. She is responsible for conducting awareness, pre-candidacy, and candidacy sessions as well as mentoring NBPTS candidates.

Research Interests:
Within the area of scholarship, Shari has conducted presentations at the state and national levels. At the national level, presentations have focused on collaborations for diversity. At the state level, she has presented on topics related to the pedagogy and tools available for online learning, K-12 technology, communication in online classes, and best practices for collaboration.

Mr. Newell currently teaches Technology in the Curriculum, Foundation for Technology in the Curriculum and Technology Strategies for Teachers.
Degree:
Master of Science from Western Illinois University in Instructional Technology & Telecommunications in 2003.
School Leadership Experience:
Mr. Newell is the Associate Director for Instructional Technology at the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB). He is also the Director of Illinois Community Colleges Online (ILCCO), a consortium of colleges exchanging online courses and programs to increase the opportunity for students to meet their learning needs. At ICCB Mr. Newell is also involved with a number of statewide initiatives to promote online learning, technology use in the classroom, and faculty development.
Prior to ICCB, Mr. Newell was an educational television director-producer working for the Center for the Application of Information Technology at Western Illinois University and the Center for Educational Television at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Mr. Newell worked on a variety tape-based and broadcast continuing education programs in the areas of educational methodologies, instructional technology, adult education, K-12 education, medical, and health education.
