STUDENT PROFILE |
Tonya has been teaching language arts in an urban middle school for fifteen years. She needs to have credits for certification renewal in a gifted program and wants something more structured than conferences and other forms of professional development. However, she wants to take courses that could apply if she chooses to get a master's degree in the next few years. Tonya has a computer at home as well as one that she can use at school that is hooked to the Internet. Her lack of familiarity with the Internet can be alleviated through using the UIS online hotline, contacting technology support (Tech. support has extended hours for online students.), plus regular assistance from her professors. Her current plan is for two courses that will meet the state requirements while helping her in her classroom and giving her an idea of ways she can expand on what she is doing professionally. Tonya has designed her course load this way:
